Originality and Anti-Plagiarism Policy
At JESSE, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. All manuscripts submitted for consideration must be original, unpublished, and free from any form of plagiarism.
Original Work Requirement
Authors must ensure that their submissions:
- Represent original research or synthesis conducted by the authors.
- Have not been published previously, in whole or in part, in any language or format.
- Are not under consideration by another journal or publication venue at the time of submission.
Any use of content (text, data, images, code, etc.) from other sources must be properly cited and referenced according to the journal’s citation style.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are automatically screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or similar tools) to verify the authenticity of the content.
Manuscripts with high similarity indices, or evidence of copied material without proper attribution, will be rejected or returned to authors for correction, depending on the severity.
The editorial team follows the COPE guidelines when dealing with suspected cases of plagiarism or duplicate publication.
Types of Unacceptable Practices
The following practices are strictly prohibited:
- Verbatim copying of text without quotation or citation.
- Paraphrasing without proper attribution.
- Self-plagiarism: reusing large portions of one’s own previously published work without disclosure or citation.
- Data or image manipulation without disclosure.
- Duplicate submission or redundant publication.
Author Responsibility
By submitting a manuscript to JESSE, authors:
- Declare that the work is original and complies with this policy.
- Acknowledge that any detected academic misconduct will lead to immediate rejection or retraction, and possible notification to their institutions.
Consequences of Violations
In cases where plagiarism or unethical behavior is confirmed:
- The manuscript will be rejected or retracted if already published.
- Authors may be prohibited from submitting to JESSE for a period of up to two years.
- The journal may inform the corresponding author’s institution or funder of the misconduct.
This policy reflects JESSE’s commitment to promoting a culture of transparency, originality, and responsible scholarship in the fields of sustainable smart engineering.
