Short communication: qualitative study of inclusion of rabbit in home gardens from Yucatan, Mexico

The aim of this study was to assess qualitatively assess the inclusion of rabbit in home gardens, in two communities in Yucatan, Mexico. Participating families received four rabbits. Qualitative information including rabbits was obtained in each community through participatory techniques. The results were analyzed by analysis of variance and non-parametric Mann - Whitney – Wilcoxon test. The community of Santa Elena showed higher inclusion of rabbit in home gardens compared to Ucú (P <0.05). Qualitative studies allow the identification of species of interest to the community and the feasibility of the inclusion to the Home garden. Santa Elena presented a higher inclusion of the rabbit to the home garden
