Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered the new promise in clinical practice, with its effectiveness in diagnosis and treatment based on predictive algorithms that may in the future reduce mortality and decrease the economic impact on society. Objectives: Describe the benefits of artificial intelligence and its applications in clinical diagnosis in medicine. Methodology: A documentary design research was carried out, descriptive and exploratory. Through the search for complete scientific articles, in databases such as SciElo, Pubmed, Google Scholar and LATINDEX, using the descriptors: artificial intelligence, diagnosis, medicine, health. Results: 31 articles were identified that have weight in the research, it is concluded that the application of AI will be the complement to medical diagnosis with relevance, effectiveness and accurate prognosis to prevent and reduce mortality from various diseases and reduce the global economic cost of health. Conclusions: It is concluded that artificial intelligence will be highly beneficial in the field of clinical diagnosis in healthcare. It will recognize pathologies in their early stages and develop them after treatment has been implemented, with application to the development of new, patient-centered treatments on an individualized basis.
