Determinants of modal choice of transport in university students: an analysis of current literature

Abstract

Mobility is one of the most relevant human activities of modern cities. Particularly, university students’ mobility is complex, unique, and has an impact on the planning and economic dynamics of cities. For this reason, understanding the travel behaviour of students and their transport mode choice can help universities and the different stakeholders in the decision-making process, to promote urban policies and encourage the use of sustainable transport modes. In the present article, a study of the actual literature was carried out, in order to identify the main determinants of the transport mode choice of university students.
