Abstract

Introduction: Cranioencephalic trauma is a complex and emerging pathological entity, it can seriously affect the subsequent neurological status of the patient, it compromises an eminent vital risk, so timely intervention and the performance of maneuvers that improve the prognosis in any term must be carried out in a timely manner, dynamic, coordinated and simultaneous. The SARS CoV 2 infection variably compromises the individual's respiratory function and represents an anesthesiological challenge in terms of airway management, ventilation and oxygenation, the appropriate use of protective equipment is essential to avoid infection in the health team.

Objective: To describe a clinical case of head injury and SARS CoV 2 infection.

Material and methods: Retrospective descriptive study, presentation of a clinical case.

Results: We describe a clinical case of a 38-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of right epidural and acute subdural fronto-temporo-parietal hematoma secondary to head trauma and associated SARS CoV 2 infection, scheduled for drainage of hematoma. he is administered general anesthesia and emergency airway management.

Conclusions: Timely intervention of ECT requiring surgical drainage greatly improves the neurological and vital prognosis of the patient, an adequate pre-anesthetic assessment identifies the targets of intervention, adequate maintenance of hemodynamics and brain infusion is indicated, the airway management of a patient with ECT and infection with SARS CoV 2, should contemplate all resources for a difficult and emergency airway , all personal protective equipment must be possessed, used appropriately and minimize the production of aerosols and secretions
