Main Article Content
Abstract
The present study conducted a bibliometric analysis using the SciMAT tool to explore the evolution of the concept of organisational ambidexterity. The analysis was carried out over two time periods: 2009-2014 and 2015-2023, in order to observe trends and changes in the research on this topic. Organisational ambidexterity refers to the ability of an organisation to simultaneously manage the exploitation of its current resources and the exploration of new opportunities, which is crucial for the long-term sustainability and success of companies, regardless of their sector.
Through strategic maps and cluster networks, the study visualised how key themes related to organisational ambidexterity have evolved, such as innovation, organisational performance, dynamic capabilities, and exploration-exploitation. It was observed that the relevance of ambidexterity has significantly grown over time, especially in the context of disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic. During the second period (2015-2023), there was a notable increase in the centrality and density of conceptual networks related to ambidexterity, underscoring its importance in strategic management and organisational innovation during times of crisis.
