Peer Review Process
Mediciencias UTA accuses receipt of the works sent by the authors, it is informed by email and on the platform the process of acceptance or rejection, and in the case of acceptance, it will receive information of the whole process of editing.
In the official portal of the journal Mediciencias UTA, within the Editorial Policies and Guidelines for authors are outlined the regulations for the authors, the format of the structure of the articles, the letter of presentation and cover, the pre-shipment check, the parameters of Evaluation by Part of the external reviewers and also consists of a guide to sending articles through the Open Journal System (OJS) that includes the pre-shipment check.
The document uploaded to the Mediciencias UTA Web portal goes through two review processes:
First review process: determines the relevance and scientific solvency of the article, taking into consideration article 107 of the Organic Law of higher education. Within 30 days of receipt of the document, the author shall receive notification of receipt, indicating preliminary whether or not it will be assessed by the scientific reviewers (blind external peers). In the event that the article presents essential deficiencies or us and adjusts to the topic of the magazine, the Editor in charge of the internal Editorial board, will indicate that it cannot be arbitrated without return option. On the other hand, if there are superficial deficiencies of form, it will be returned to the author, for correction before beginning the process of external evaluation. The date of receipt of the item does not compute until the receipt is correct.
Second review process: constitutes evaluation by external pairs (double-blind). The articles will be scientifically evaluated by a minimum of two experts on the subject. The reports will indicate the following recommendation: Publishable, publishable with conditions (modifications), non-publishable. From the external reports will decide the acceptance or rejection of the articles for publication by the editor responsible. In the case of dissenting results, it shall be referred to a third opinion (external reviewer), which shall be definitive.
The authors will receive the scientific evaluation reports in an anonymous way. Positively evaluated works, which require modifications, will be returned within a maximum period of fifteen days. Mediciencias UTA reserves the right to make style correction and editorial changes that it deems necessary to improve the document.
Once the text is diagrammed, the authors of accepted articles will be sent a proof of printing in PDF format for their correction of typography and spelling only in a maximum of three days. The authors will be able to access the definitive publication online.
