Abstract
Alcohol consumption is a problem that affects the pediatric population, can cause several mental repercussions and as a trigger for the consumption of other illegal drugs, new sanitary measures have expanded the use of antiseptic gel in an uncontrolled wayand unsafe. The antispasmodic gel contains alcohol and ether in concentrations higher than 70%, according to the amount of alcohol ingested and show signs and symptoms typical of acute alcohol intoxication (IEA). We present a 3-year-old female patient, who comes to the emergency room with dizziness, dyslalia, oncoordination in progress, ataxia and hypotonia, alcoholic breath, sphincter relaxation and subsequent "hangover". Blood analysis with normal values and determination of blood ethanol confirmed thediagnosis of alcohol intoxication. The data were collected from the medical history of the AS400 database of the IESS Ambato Hospital. The wide range of antibacterial gel presentations is a new risk factor for IEA in pediatrics, as of 2010 has increased training accidentally, to get drunk or by challenge; The predominant semiology is neurological. Determination of capillary glycemia and ethanol levels in blood is essential in any pediatric patient suspected of SAI.
