Characterization of dermatological diseases associated with COVID-19

Abstract

The COVID-19 disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 has caused a devastating global impact. The pediatric population is likely to be infected with very varied symptoms of benign resolution in most cases. Dermatological lesions ranging from acral lesions, vesicular rashes, urticarial eruptions, macupapular rashes have been observed in this group. Describe the available evidence of dermatological lesions produced by SARS-CoV-2. A pediatric patient with a family pathological history of parents diagnosed with a COVID-19 disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 from the city of Guayaquil is described with a picture that begins with fever, headache, joint pain, diffuse abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Therefore, she is admitted to the health home, the rapid tests for COVID 19 are positive. At 24 hours, he presented skin lesions, dryness, an erythematous rash predominantly on the face at the frontal level, cheeks, chin, chest and shoulder with the appearance of maculopapule and vesicle lesions. She received symptomatic treatment and after 5 days she was discharged due to an improvement in the condition with persistence of the rash and rash. The clinical suspicion of COVID-19 produced by SARS-CoV-2 in children, taking into account the family pathological history and the epidemiological profile, plays a fundamental role when making the early diagnosis of the SARS-CoV2 virus, it is evidenced by diverse symptoms in the pediatric population that can be accompanied by lesions at the level of the skin of benign resolution.
