Abstract

In Ecuador, most of the University Educational Centers, which have a degree in industrial design in their academic offer, carry out their history teaching processes as a simple return to the past, to the remote and chronological origin of lifeless events, lost in time.


However, to go through the history of design is to understand its living, changing character, understand it as a communication system, work on its genetic code, proposing strategies in the search for its origin, in which sciences and techniques, art and crafts are articulated, material culture, production of objects, among other factors, in order to have a more real, lively, more organic story because objects, works, images and design products exist thanks to the needs of a living, real and complex.


To fulfill this purpose, industrial design careers in Ecuador, their study profiles and contents of the design history subject were analyzed, with this information a reflection was made on how this subject could currently be taught, concluding in a general way that at Being currently in a globalized world that is constantly changing in all senses, its study should invariably be oriented towards reading designed objects and their relationships with human beings in their daily life with all its nuances and edges.
