MEDICIENCIAS UTA Journal is a publication of the medical career of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Technical University of Ambato, with a multidisciplinary style that includes all medical specialties and health sciences. Volumes were published until December 2019 in the months (March, June, September and December). As of January 2020, the periodicity changes in the months of January, April, July, October.

It's a scientific journal refereed under the double-blind system. All papers submitted for publication should include a theoretical review and rationale of the subject of study, as well as a description of the methodology used. The work will be drafted taking into account the usual structure of scientific work: introduction, Objectives, Material and methods, results, discussion, conclusions and bibliographic references.

All contributions must conform to the publication standards available on the journal's website. Work that does not meet the requirements established in the editorial policy will be rejected. The magazine regularly publishes works in Spanish and English.

Objective

Disseminate the results of scientific research by presenting different original articles, editorials, bibliographic reviews ,essays, clinical case presentations, research (experimental, clinical and pedagogical ), being part of the academic, scientific and social development in the medical and health sciences in the contemporary world.

Open Access Policy

«Revista Mediciencias UTA» is an open access journal which is entirely free for readers and authors, and favors and allows the reuse and self-archiving of articles in databases, repositories, directories and international information systems. "Mediciencias UTA" does not charge to publish, that is, there is no fee or payment by the authors and access to its content is completely free. In this sense «Mediciencias UTA» has a Creative Common Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.  The journal only retains the rights to publish the papers in the digital versions.

Copyright

The texts of the articles in the MEDICIENCIAS UTA University Journal with scientific, academic, pedagogical and social projection are protected by copyright. The Universidad Técnica de Ambato retains the copyright of the published works, and favors and allows the reuse of these, as long as: the authorship and original source of publication is cited, and they are not used for commercial or onerous purposes. The topics covered in the different articles published as well as the opinions expressed are the sole responsibility of the authors.

Legal positions

Mediciencias UTA will assume the articles previously accepted by its editorial committee and endorsed by its author(s), who will be absolutely responsible for the integrity, content and authenticity of the same, and will not reflect for any reason the position of the Editorial Board of the journal. Since then, Mediciencias UTA prohibits to reproduce the material published in "Mediciencias UTA: Revista Universitaria con proyección científica, académica y social" or to use it for profit. It should be informed if there are sources of funding or support for research.

Code of Ethics

Mediciencias UTA maintains a permanent commitment with the ethics of the publication, offers to its readers the Norms for Publication which have been written with solid methodological and ethical bases, in consequence with the Recommendations of the ICMJE "International Committee of Medical Journal Editors", the COPE "Code of Ethics of the Publications Commission" and "Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Academic Work in Medical Journals".

Originality and Antiplagiarism Verification

All articles submitted are analyzed by the URKUND anti-plagiarism software tool, where a result of less than 8% should be obtained. Authors accept publication in this journal according to the established formal requirements. Each article should inform, when it exists, the organization that finances or supports the research.
