Psoas muscle abscess iliac as a cause of lumbociatalgia

Abstract
Introduction: The report is presented of a clinical case of acute Lumbociatica whose etiology was corresponded with anabscess in the left iliac psoas muscle, evidenced as the presence of a collection of pus in the iliopsoas musclechamber, an entity relatively Uncommon and with a non-specific and larval clinical presentation. The case was assisted at the Provincial General Hospital Latacunga in theyear 2016. The most common etiologies of lumbociatalgiaare cases and herniated discs, being the abscess of thepsoas a rare entity.
Objectives: To describe a clinical case of Psoas iliac muscle abscess as acause of lumbociatalgia.
Material and methods: retrospective descriptive study, clinical case presentation.
Results: A case is reported in the Hospital Provincial General ofLatacunga, it is a patient of 31 years with history of acute pyelonephritis at the age of 19 who comes by Lumbociatalgia and it is verified the presence of an abscess of the psoas muscle iliac as Etiology of the symptom. The diagnosis was performed by laboratory examinations,lumbar spine nuclear magnetic resonance and abdominal ultrasound. The therapeutic behavior was based onchemotherapy of broad spectrum and the realization of a minimally invasive procedure: Drainage of the abscess by percutaneous via the technique of Seldinger guided by ultrasound. The results were very satisfactory, with a subsequent follow-up for one year.
Conclusions: The infectious etiologic diagnosis should be considered in the face of an acute lumbociatalgia, and among its varieties, to take into account the abscess of the iliac psoas muscle,although the cases and hernias of the disc, surpass it infrequency
