Abstract
Introduction: Overlappingsyndromes are liver diseases that simultaneously have characteristics of autoimmune hepatitis (HAI), primary biliary cholangitis (CBP), or primary sclerosing cholangitis (CEP).
Objective: Describe a clinical case of HAI-CBP overlappingsyndrome.
Material and methods: A descriptive, retrospective, clinical case presentation study on HAI-CBP overlappingsyndrome was conducted.
Results: We present the clinical case of a 48-year-old male patient, diagnosed with HAI-CBP overlapping syndrome, who meets two of the three Paris criteria: alanine aminotransferase (ALT) > 5 of the normal upper limit and interface hepatitis for HAI; Antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA) positive and alkaline phosphatase (FAL) > 2 normal upper limitfor CBP, the response to treatment combined with steroids plus ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) was excellent.
Conclusions: Because of the low prevalence of this entity, there are no randomized trials on ideal treatment, dose and route of administration.
