Abstract

The objective of the research was to analyze the characteristics of emotional exhaustion in the different care areas of the Ambato hospital during the covid19 pandemic. The study was non-experimental, descriptive and correlational, cross-sectional. The MBI-HSS (Human Services Survey) was applied to a sample of 181 people for the medical and administrative staff in direct contact with users of the Ambato General Teaching Hospital, thus establishing the different clinical-surgical areas and other departments offered by the Institution's portfolio of services. Through the one-way analysis of variance of one factor (ANOVA), the statistically significant differences between the sociodemographic variables and the results of the MBI HSS instrument with their respective subscales were verified. The groups were determined with the Tukey Post Hoc multiple comparison test. Among the most outstanding results, a greater affectation was confirmed for the male gender and the pharmacy staff together with the resident doctors who work in the institution, having a direct relationship with the subscales of depersonalization and emotional exhaustion of the burnout syndrome. It is concluded that the person most exposed to emotional exhaustion and depersonalization were those who had more direct contact with patients and users.
