Abstract

Textilomas are bodies originating from surgical textile material forgotten in the patient's cavity, causing an inflammatory reaction and surrounding fibrosis over time. The objective of this study is to characterize the suspicion, after the first contact with the patient in the Emergency room. The methodology used in the report and analysis of this case takes an observational, retrospective and qualitative approach, supported by the updated review of high-impact journals. In the results obtained, it was established that the clinical picture is varied, however, the pain, a palpable mass and the systemic inflammatory response together with a history of abdominal surgery, allow increasing suspicion and directing the diagnosis.
