Abstract
Introduction: Childbirth is a physiological process that is considered the most important moment in the life of the woman and her family, so she expects to feel accompanied and protected, therefore it is necessary to emphasize the role of nursing in this process since she from her humanistic side will provide her unconditional support even more in times of COVID-19 pandemic.
Methodology: A systematic review of articles and scientific publications directly related to the topic of study was carried out in the period 2015-2020. In order to obtain information, databases such as: SciELO, Latindex, Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect were reviewed.
Result: The bibliographic review of the articles selected and analyzed showed that the accompaniment by the nurse during labor is fundamental, taking into account the situation currently being experienced with COVID-19 because the mother goes through episodes of anguish and fear that the newborn may be a carrier of the virus.
Conclusion: After conducting a literature review on the role of nursing in the care and attention of humanized childbirth, it is concluded that professionals in the nursing area are essential for the management of pregnant women at the time of delivery, however, in the context of the pandemic, more rigorous measures have been taken to ensure that humanized childbirth is carried out safeguarding the welfare of the maternal- fetal binomial
