Biological factors related to practice and sexual desire in older adults

Abstract
Introduction: Sexual desire and practice are important throughout the life of men and women, in this sense, there is no reason to believe that at older sexual interest or practices disappears. It is essential to emphasize that pleasure is not only a matter of the genital apparatus, it is based on a series of excitements and activities carried out from the earliest years; sexuality is usually related to youth, increasing many uncertain theories about sexuality in old age.
Objective: Identify the relationship of age andsex in practice and sexual desire of older adults in the canton of Catamayo, Loja province in the first half of 2018.
Methodology: A reliable instrument was designed and applied taking into view the characteristics and study variables; analysis and interpretation of data was made possible using the Statistical Program SPSS v. 24. The study is prospective, descriptive, quantitative non-experimental, because phenomena were observed as they developed in their natural context, the cross-sectional design of causality allowed us to describe the relationships between older adults’ sexes related to sexual desire and practice.
Result: A significant statistical relationship between age and sex was identified with sexual desire and practice.
Conclusions: The belief that sex and age, directly related to sexual activity, has caused neglect to one of the activities that provides the highest quality of life, sexuality; However, most older people are ableto have relationships and feel pleasure in the full range of activities as happens in younger people.
