ICT and its didactic impact on the motivation of nursing students at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Universitario España. ICT and Motivation in Higher Education

Abstract
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have revolutionized various fields, including higher education. This study focused on evaluating how the use of ICTs impacts on the academic motivation of nursing students at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Universitario España. The perception of 220 students was analyzed using a mixed approach, non-experimental design, descriptive, correlational scope, a 9-question questionnaire was applied, whose level of internal reliability was determined by Cronbach's Alpha (α = 0.815). In addition, the Academic Motivation Scale (EMA). The results showed that 40% of the students feel unmotivated at medium and medium-high level, 97.70% present extrinsic motivation at medium and medium-high level, 99.95% have medium and medium-high intrinsic motivation. Regarding the perception of ICT, 67.30% believe that they improve their academic performance, 82.70% feel that they facilitate better understanding, 76% consider that they make classes more dynamic and 76% believe that they optimize the learning process. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between demotivation and academic performance. Likewise, a positive correlation was observed with academic comprehension, dynamic classes, motivation for learning. In addition, extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation showed a positive correlation with traditional teaching methods.
