ACTIVIDAD FÍSICA Y SU RELACIÓN CON EL ÍNDICE DE MASA CORPORAL EN DOCENTES DE LA CARRERA DE ENFERMERÍA DURANTE EL CONFINAMIENTO

Resumen

Introducción: La actividad física es un hábito saludable para evitar el sobrepeso y la obesidad en los docentes universitarios durante el teletrabajo y la educación virtual en la pandemia COVID-19. Objetivo: Analizar el índice de masa corporal (IMC) y los niveles de actividad física en docentes de la carrera de enfermería durante el confinamiento. Métodos: estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y corte transversal, la población fue de 50 docentes de la Carrera de Enfermería de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Ecuador, se aplicó el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ) para conocer la actividad física y el IMC. Resultados: Los docentes presentaron estado nutricional normal 44% (n=22), sobrepeso 30% (n=15) y obesidad 26% (n=13), el estado nutricional normal fue mayor a los 26-36 y 37-47 años 20%(n=10), sobrepeso a 37 a 47 años 16% (n=8) y obesidad a 48 a 58 años 14% (n=7), en el género femenino el estado nutricional normal 42% (n=21), sobrepeso 28% (n=14), obesidad 16% (n=8). En los niveles de actividad física la categoría moderada 50% (n=25), baja 38% (n=19) y alta 12% (n=6), con un predominio a los 37-47 años en el nivel moderado 22% (n=11), bajo 16% (n=8) y una correlación negativa significativa de la actividad física (r=-0,828; p<0,001) con el IMC. Conclusiones: En confinamiento durante la pandemia de la COVID-19 los docentes presentaron incremento del IMC con sobrepeso y obesidad, un nivel de actividad física moderada seguida de baja y alta, con una correlación negativa significativa de la actividad física con el IMC.

Introduction: Physical activity is a healthy habit to avoid overweight and obesity in university teachers during teleworking and virtual education in the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: Analyze the Body Mass Index and levels of physical activity in teachers of the nursing career during confinement. Methods: quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, the population was 50 teachers of the Nursing Career of the Technical University of Ambato, Ecuador, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was applied to know the physical activity and the BMI. Results: The teachers presented normal nutritional status 44% (n=22), overweight 30% (n=15) and obesity 26% (n=13), the normal nutritional status was higher at 26-36 and 37-47 years 20% (n=10), overweight at 37 to 47 years 16% (n=8) and obesity at 48 to 58 years 14% (n=7), in the female gender the normal nutritional status 42% (n=21), overweight 28% (n=14), obesity 16% (n=8). In the levels of physical activity, the moderate category 50% (n=25), low 38% (n=19) and high 12% (n=6), with a predominance at 37-47 years in the moderate level 22% (n=11), under 16% (n=8) and a significant negative correlation of physical activity (r=-0.828; p<0.001) with BMI. Conclusions: In confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers presented an increase in BMI with overweight and obesity, a moderate level of physical activity followed by low and high, with a significant negative correlation of physical activity with the BMI.
