Resumen

Introducción: Una de las cuatro principales infecciones relacionadas a la atención en salud, es la infección de vías urinarias asociada a sonda (IVU-AS). Objetivo: Describir un marco de referencias bibliográficas sobre estrategias para la prevención de IVU-AS en el área de enfermería. Métodos: Revisión bibliográfica en idioma inglés y español, habiéndose estructurado la búsqueda según operadores booleanos, con la siguiente combinación, en inglés: "Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection /nursing"; en español: “Infección de vías urinarias asociada a sonda /enfermería”, los términos utilizados tuvieron en cuenta el vocabulario indexado a la base de datos PUBMED, SciELO, Science Direct, Web of Science, Springer, Latindex, Dialnet UNIROJA, Redalyc; la revisión se realizó considerando los últimos dos años. Resultados: Los artículos que conforman la presente revisión sistemática permiten analizar los factores de riesgo, acciones y estrategias a seguir para una correcta instalación de sonda vesical, adecuados procedimientos durante la inserción, mantenimiento, retiro, así como los tipos de cuidados de enfermería que contribuyan a la prevención y disminución de infecciones de vías urinarias asociadas a sonda. Conclusiones: La prevención de IVU-AS es esencial para reducir la morbilidad, la mortalidad y los costos asociados con las infecciones relacionadas a la atención en salud. Los artículos de la presente revisión sistemática forman parte


 


del marco de referencia de un programa de capacitación dirigido al personal de enfermería.
