Abstract

Introduction: Cornual ectopic pregnancy is one of the rare types of pregnancies, characterized by finding the
blastocyst implanted at the level of the uterine horns. This comprises 2 to 4% of all extrauterine pregnancies. 
Diagnosing such a pathology is a difficult task for experienced doctors and this will depend on the treatment that can be provided and the time to perform it. Correct anamnesis, a thorough physical exam, laboratory tests
and transvaginal ultrasound are key to diagnosis.


Objective: Describing a clinical case focused on cornish.transvaginal ectopic pregnancy are key to diagnosis.


Material and methods: A descriptive, retrospective study was conducted, clinical case presentation of Cornual
ectopic pregnancy.


Results: It presents the case of a female patient of 34 years of age, having as a history of gynecological geese:
2, births: 0, abortions: 1, live children: 0, dead children: 0; Pregnancy 1: miscarriage at 5 weeks gestation;
Gesta 2: current gestation of 9.2 weeks gestation, with vaginal bleeding picture of chocolate coloration of 15
days of evolution, imaging and laboratory tests are performed, the same reporting complex left adnexal mass
with ectopic pregnancy characteristics, positive pregnancy test (H.C.G Choronic >10.000), decreased
progesterone (8.18 ng/ml), is categorized as a Cornish ectopic pregnancy and is decided to perform
exploratory laparoscopy with a pre-surgical diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, recovered satisfactorily, he spent
7 days in the hospitalization gynecology service of the General Hospital Ambato, decided to discharge service
on June 14, 2017, for follow-up and controls by the external consultation service.


Conclusions: Cornish ectopic pregnancy is usually uncommon, its diagnosis late should be handled surgically;
transvaginal ultrasound will be key to timely diagnosis.
