Abstract

Introduction: The prevalence of acetabulum fracture is a problem of public health importance by its frequency, risk and cost. Acetabular fractures are serious injury and are mainly associated with trauma of high energy.


Objective: To describe a clinical case of fracture of acetabulum.


Material and methods:retrospective descriptive study, clinical case presentation.


Results: Described the case of a male patient of 54 years of age to post traffic, as a driver of a motorcycle accident, suffers trauma by direct hit right hip-level, it concerns pain and functional limitation in the Member lower on that side. Imaging studies can demonstrate a right acetabulum in wall and posterior column fracture. It was detention with traction of soft tissue, followed by hospitalization for subsequent corrective surgery.


Conclusions: Managing initial of the patient polytraumathized in emergencies together with the proper valuation for orthopedics and Traumatology, allow effective hospital management and subsequent surgical resolution of fracture of acetabulum which constitutes a challenge for this specialty.
