Abstract

Introduction: Immunization is one of the most effective and cost-effective public health interventions to reduce child morbidity and mortality worldwide. Objective: To determine the factors associated with noncompliance with the vaccination schedule in children under 5 years of age. Methods: The review protocol was constructed based on the PRISMA ScR guidelines and the JBI manuals. The search for information was performed in the following databases: PubMed, Dialnet, BVS and Scielo, this from the use of descriptors and the Boolean operator AND; in this way 786 articles were identified and, 766 publications were excluded for not meeting the eligibility criteria and finally the studies that were included were 20 articles. Results: It was found that the main predictors associated with non-compliance with the vaccination schedule were: parents' educational level, young age of the mother, occupation, lack of knowledge of immunizations, adverse effects, diseases present in the child, false contraindications, religion, ethnicity, native mother tongue, accessibility to the service and shortage of biologicals.  Conclusions: Non-compliance with the vaccination schedule continues to be a problem associated with sociodemographic, cognitive, pediatric, cultural and institutional factors.
