Diabetic ketoacidosis in paediatric context, regarding a case

Abstract
Introduction:
Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus is one of the endocrine-metabolic diseases of great importance in pediatric age,
develops as a heterogeneous syndrome of multifactorial etiology with great genetic importance, has a high
rate of morbidity by which needs to identify symptomatology in a timely manner to avoid complications such
as diabetic ketoacidosis, which puts the life-threatening of the sufferer's life.
Objective: Describe a clinical case of diabetic ketoacidosis of pediatric age.
Material and methods: Retrospective descriptive study, clinical case presentation of Diabetes Mellitus 1
complicated with diabetic ketoacidosis.
Results: It presents the case of an 11-year-old who develops Diabetes Mellitus type 1 with ketoacidosis,
Diabetes Mellitus in pediatric age is a controllable pathology, which with the right diagnosis and correct
treatment obtains a good quality of life future, uncomplicated.
Conclusion: Rapid identification of clinical symptoms of Diabetes in children, allows a timely diagnosis and
adopt effective therapeutic behavior, managing to decrease mortality in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis.
