Abstract
Degenerative Spondylolisthesis is a rare condition but with an inexorable course towards functional limitation, characterized by the slippage of one vertebra over another forward with integrity of the neural arch. It has a clinical picture of rapid evolution, being the most affected level of L4 to L5, causing a focal stenosis that does not exceed more than 30% of the thickness of the vertebra. Often the diagnosis has been hampered by the non-specificity of the symptomatology, and the insufficiency related to the resources lacking to expose appropriate diagnoses. The present work made it possible to present the case of a patient with symptoms of Degenerative Lumbar Spondylolistesis diagnosed in the Hospital General Docente Ambato, Ecuador in the year 2017, with a history of osteoporosis for 5 years and progressive functional incapacity to perform their usual activities, So it was decided to perform surgical intervention considering first lumbar fusion which was unsuccessful due to bone instability, being performed in the second instance vertebral Laminectomy, evidencing that the procedure is the ideal treatment to treat similar conditions in elderly with osteoporosis, but it should be evaluated Always the general and individual conditions of each patient.
