Abstract

Introduction:The curricular design by competencies for medical training in Ecuador incorporates credits and propaedeutic cycles with reflections, conceptual aspects and methodological guidelines. The complex approach within the design by competencies gives a high priority to the formation of integral persons with ethical commitment, who seek their self -realization, in close connection with the society, suitable medical professionals and entrepreneurs. Kolb develops a teaching model applicable to each learning style and in this way guides the teacher, under a scheme of pedagogical comfort, according to the needs of the learner. The application to the teaching of the physiology will result in raising the quality of the formative process and the acquisition of the learning outcomes.

Objective:Applying the complex approach and the Kolb cycle in the teachingof medical physiology.

Methodology:An explanatory cross-sectional study was carried out to demonstrate the application of the complex approach and the Kolb cycle in the teaching of medical physiology to the students of the medical career of the Technical University of Ambato during the period Academic March-August 2018.Descriptive statistical methods were used.
