Introduction: Paragangliomas are highly vascularized, benign tumors, which cells are originated in the embryonic neural crest. 90% of paragangliomas are in the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma). 85% of extra adrenal paragangliomas are in the abdomen, 12% are located in the chest, and only 3% in head and neck. Carotid glomus Tumor has infrequent and slow growth and represents 1 of every 30.000 tumors of head and neck.


Objective: Describe clinical case of a patient with carotid glomus that was treated at Hospital Del Día Neuro-Salud IESS in Latacunga city at March 2021


Material and Methods: Retrospective and descriptive study. Patient data was obtained at the admission and followed until discharge, after that the knowledge of the pathology was based on journal papers founded at data bases like PUBMED, Scielo, Wiley and Elsevier.


Results: 41 years old female patient who consults for the presence of a mass in left cervical region that had 2 years progressive growth, it doesn’t produce pain and it is accompanied by tachycardias. The physical examination found a tumor in left cervical region of about 2 centimeters of diameter, so an Angio-tac of neck is performed where it is observed at the left carotid bifurcation a nodular injury, hypervascularized, of 16 x 14 x 12 millimeters.


Conclusion: The tumors of carotid glomus are generally benign and has late diagnosis. The imaging studies are fundamental for its diagnosis and staging.
